Touring Film Fest Show on Sunday (primarily experimental / cool stuff)

Black Maria Film and Video Festival
Sunday, 29 March 2009, 3.00 PM
Merrill 4, Amherst College

Pop culture send-ups, multicultural lyricism, illuminating exposé, the beauty of an endangered species and human issues are themes found in the eclectic works of the 28th annual touring festival of the Black Maria. Selections from the 45 short videos selected by a distinguished panel of jurors will be screened at Amherst College. The event is free and open to the public. Gene Gort of University of Hartford will be presenting the films.

Since 1981, the annual Black Maria Film and Video Festival, an international juried competition and award tour, has been fulfilling its mission to advocate, exhibit and reward cutting edge works from independent film and videomakers. The festival is known for its national public exhibition program, which features a variety of bold contemporary works drawn from the annual collection of 50 award winning films and videos.
