parts & labor 4/11 at the blue wall umass

Two New WMUA 91.1fm Events this April!

2nd WMUA RECORD FEST! (4/4)

Free Spring Concert w/
TALK NORMAL & PARTS & LABOR!!! (4/11)

WMUA 91.1 is very excited to announce two new events for the month of April. Mark your calendars for these fun, free ways to entertain yourselves and support great independent music and radio programming.

On Saturday, April 4th we will host our 2nd Annual WMUA Record Fest from 11am to 5pm in the Cape Cod Lounge of the Student Union Center at UMass Amherst. Music vendors from across the Northeast will be offering a wide selection of vinyl, CDs and assorted musical media and ephemera. WMUA radio djs will be performing sets throughout the afternoon for your listening enjoyment. The Record Fest is free and open to the public, proceeds will benefit WMUA 91.1fm, the not-for-profit radio voice of UMass and the Pioneer Valley.

The following Saturday, April 11th, WMUA presents an evening of avant-garde rock with Brooklyn noise rock outfits Talk Normal and Parts & Labor. Talk Normal are a deconstructive drum and guitar duo who will totally rearrange your concept of rock music with their hypnotic, beat-driven jams and a propensity for ecstatic outbursts of noise. Formed just a little over a year ago, Talk Normal's ever-developing sound promises big things. Then prepare yourselves for the polymetric precision of the epic, experimental group Parts & Labor, fresh from their well-'received' tour in support of their latest full length Receivers on Jagjaguwar Records. Parts & Labor is the musical brainchild of B.J. Warshaw and former Amherst-resident
Dan Friel (you may have caught his stellar solo set at the WMUA fall concert), and their most recent line-up fills out their sound with a new drummer and guitarist. Receivers is their most critically acclaimed album yet, receiving rave reviews from The New York Times, Pitchfork Media, Rolling Stone and The Onion (A.V. Club), among many others. The event starts at 8pm and is located in the Blue Wall Cafe of the Student Union Center. DON'T MISS IT!!!
